Drift Rates of Narrowband Signals in Long-term SETI Observations for Exoplanets

چکیده

The Doppler shift of a radio signal is caused by the relative motion between transmitter and receiver. change in frequency over time called drift rate. In studies SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence), extraterrestrial narrowband signals are expected to appear "chirped" since both exoplanet Earth moving. Such planet rotation orbital revolution around central star can cause non-zero Other motions receiver, such as gravitational redshift galactic potential, negligible. this paper, we mainly consider common cases that rate contributed rotations orbits celestial mechanics perspective, briefly discuss other different from Earth-exoplanet one. We obtain pseudosinusoidal drifting result with long-term observations, shorter periods exoplanets. Exoplanets higher eccentricities asymmetric drifting. should be intermittent curves observations. characteristics pseudo-sinusoidal curves, another new criterion signals, applied reobservations future research.

Measurement of long-term denudation rates in carbonate landscapes using in situ-produced 36Cl cosmogenic nuclide

ecent progresses have been made in the quantification of denudation of eroding landscapes and its links with topography. Despite these advances, data is still sparse in carbonate terrain, which covers a significant part of the Earth’s surface. We can now measure in situ-produced cosmogenic nuclides concentrations in various near-surface materials, allowing accurate quantification of the rates o...

Improving perceptual coding of narrowband audio signals at low rates

This paper discusses perceptual coding of narrowband audio signals at low rates. In particular, it proposes a new error measure which shapes the noise inside the critical bands, a window switching criterion based on the temporal masking effect of the hearing system, a more accurate model of the simultaneous masking effect of the hearing system, perceptually-based bit allocation algorithms based...

Detecting long-term drift in reagent lots.

BACKGROUND Between-reagent lot verification is a routine laboratory exercise in which a set of samples is tested in parallel with an existing reagent lot and a candidate reagent lot (before the candidate lot is committed to test patient samples). The exercise aims to verify and maintain consistency in the analytical performance of a test. We examined the limitations of a routine between-reagent...

Determination of long-term slip rates of faults in the eastern part of Iran plateau using finite element kinematic model

Since Iran plateau is located in the Alpine-Himalayan Orogenic belt, it is recognized as a region with a high seismic risk. Thus, investigation of geodynamic activities of the faults, their slip rates and corresponding deformation fields is very important for quantification of possible seismic risk in this region. The aim of this study is to analyze the tectonic features of eastern part of Iran...
